Discipline Equals Happiness

Hi my darlings! I can’t believe that I haven’t been posting any articles in such a long time. I am so happy to get back to my website. I hope I will keep the momentum going and will share a lot of new ideas. At least I will try.

Here is the link to the video for this blog post: Discipline Equals Happiness.

Today I want to talk about something that I haven’t been preaching about for a long time, I would like to rase the idea of connection between happiness and discipline. This is the subject that I keep bringing up, because every time I have issues, I realize that the main cause of them is lack of self-discipline. I will try to explain what I mean.

When I was single, I suffered a lot, because I really wanted to have a partner, I felt like something was missing, like I wasn’t using my potential in full. And this dissatisfaction served me as a trigger for self-development. I felt so uncomfortable that I needed to keep myself busy. Then I met my husband, very caring and kind man. With him I got relaxed. I forgot about pain that I had during my lonely days, when I was afraid of staying single forever, when I was scared that I would never be loved. And if life was a fairy tale, I probably would just write here: they lived happily ever after, the end. But this is not how reality works.

The thing is that we have worries and dissatisfaction not because something external is missing, we get upset because something bothers us inside. And nothing and no one can make you happy if you don’t discipline your mind. Mean, scary thoughts will always come up to the surface, but the way you react to these things depends on how much efforts you put on working on yourself. Discipline equals happiness, there is no doubt about that.

I am trying little by little to become more disciplined, sometimes it is not easy. Here are few things which help me right now.

1. Simply start. In order to do something, you can just begin without thinking about outcome and finish line. Even a small baby stem toward your goal counts. It is better to work for 5 minutes on your brain, than do nothing. Be realistic, be kind to yourself, don’t create too many tasks, just start! Sometimes fear is the reason we procrastinate and the best way to get rid of this fear is to face it.

2. Blocking Time / Writing Dow. If you have a task in your calendar, it might help you to start. For me writing things down wors as a charm. If I create list of tasks in the evening, next day I don’t have to waste my time on thinking and I just act. I am currently using BOOX Note Air 2 Plus E Ink Tablet for my notes. This tool is not perfect but can replace tons of paper notebooks which I don’t want to buy anymore just because I have limited space in my apartment. So Electronic Ink Tablet is a nice solution for me,

3. Do The Hard Thing First. I love this feeling when you are done with the tasks for the day and can just relax and do silly things, watch a movie, play a game, do some online window shopping. But if I don’t complete the important tasks, I cannot really enjoy all this silly stuff. Somewhere deep inside I would feel guilty for not using my potential, or I will be scared of not completing something important. Doing the hard thing first can decrease anxiety and increase satisfaction.

4. Check List. It can be helpful to have the list of tasks and put a check mark in front of them. Jerry Seinfeld had a calendar, where he used to put checkmarks every day when he was writing a new joke. I use a cute app for that, it is called “Smile Todo”. You can add as many habits as you want and track your progress.

5. Use Your Phone Mindfully. Sometimes I lose my attention, I feel bored and I grab my phone without thinking and start scrolling through YouTube or Shopping Apps, or whatever and I kill so much time this way! And even waste money. Then I get upset. So I decided that when I notice that I am holding my phone, I should turn on Duo Lingo app and learn French, or I should read a book in Kindle app, or I can make notes for my blog. It helps to make my phone usage more beneficial. We waste too much time on mindless scrolling, stop doing it now!

And remember, if one day you got lazy and unproductive, tomorrow is a new day, and you can start all over. I like a quote I heard from Joel Osteen, "You don't lose your destiny, if you got of course". Never give up and keep working on your productivity, it's your social obligation, to make yourself happy! Here is the link to Joel's talk that inspired me: What's Blocking Your Growth?

New adjustment to my blog:

I decided in each of my article to share one little beauty tip, because makeup and skincare is my second passion after self-love. I discovered very cute blush which has a nice brush with it. You don’t have to buy additional tools and figure out which one of them will work better with this specific piece of your makeup. Everything is included! The blush is called Bisou Blush, it is made by Violette FR brand, which is created by Violette Serrat, who promotes the idea of effortless makeup for women around the world. I really like this tool and carry it with me all the time! It is very cute and versatile!

These are my tips for today. I will keep getting back to the subject of discipline, because this is the key to happy life, not just to success, but to peaceful living.
