Sleep Well!

Last weekend I promised to post article and video about positivity. But I was so lazy that I didn't have enough time to put together information for this subject. But I want to share some tips for good sleep, which I believe is extremely important if you want to stay positive.

When you sleep, your brain performs certain actions which are necessary for your well-being. Sleep is important for good memory, for keeping your brain younger, for productivity and many other things.

Of course there can be days when you have less sleep than you need, but in general you should try to develop a routine when you have enough hours of sleep to feel energized. Everyone has his own needs, you should know yours. Just answer a simple question, "Do I get enough sleep?" And if the answer is "No", make a decision, that you will change your habits and will have more sleep! It is so very important!

Now let me share the things which helped me to sleep more.

1. Keep Bedroom cool. It is recommended to have about 65-67 degrees in bedroom. It is easier to fall asleep when the air temperature is not too hot. My bedroom is usually cooler than the rest of my apartment just because of the way windows are faced. It helps me to feel better at night.

2. Bedroom is for sleep. I don't use my bedroom for watching TV or reading books. I don't really spend too much time in my bed. I try only sleep in there. This way my brain develops a habit of sleeping in my bed, nothing else. If you constantly watching TV or playing with your phone in bed, it will be harder for you to fall asleep in there.

3. Go to bed at the same time. This was probably the most helpful rules of all! It changed my life! I am not kidding. I was sometimes very exhausted, not productive, just because I used to go to bed too late. But at some point I got tired of being tired, ha-ha. And I made a decision that I will go to bed before 10pm every night. In order to do that I just started to turn off everything in my apartment before 10pm: light, TV, my phone, everything. It is a strict rule. It doesn't mater what I was doing, when it's 9:55pm I get up and turn off stuff. By 10pm I MUST be in my bed! And it worked like a magic! So simple!

Of course sometimes I can have nights when I cannot fall asleep. If it happens I usually get out of my bed and read a book in my living room, so I still keep myself away from sleeping area when I am awake.

If you are in some period of your life when you cannot follow these advises, if you have a little baby for example, it's okay, because it is temporary. But if you don't really have any good reason to improve your life by working on your sleeping habit, then you probably should work on your will-power and ability to make good decisions. Please feel free to contact me if you need help with that.

Please, please, please take care of yourself and your health! Focus on your habits, because you have control over them, you can change them any way you want. Don't waste your time on things you cannot affect, do whatever makes your life better instead! It is very important to be focused on your well-being.
